Privacy Policy

Effective May 25, 2026
The short version

Aureo runs entirely on your device. It connects directly to your Home Assistant instance over your local network. We don't operate any cloud, run any servers that touch your data, or use analytics. There is genuinely nothing about you that reaches us when you use the app.

1. Who we are

Aureo is published by KS Studios S.E.N.C., a partnership registered in Quebec, Canada. Our company page is ks-studios.ca.

2. Privacy Officer

Under Quebec's Law 25, every organisation must designate a Privacy Officer. Ours is Claude Turcot, reachable at privacy@ks-studios.ca.

3. What Aureo (the app) stores

When you use Aureo, the following is stored on your device only:

  • Your Home Assistant URL and Long-Lived Access Token, so the app can connect
  • Your tile layout, room configuration, and preferences
  • Camera credentials and ONVIF settings, when used
  • A PIN hash, if you've enabled lock or edit protection

None of this is sent to us. None of it leaves your device except to talk to your own Home Assistant instance and your own cameras on your local network.

Aureo's optional features behave the same way:

  • Voice tile streams audio to your Home Assistant Assist pipeline. We don't see it.
  • Tablet intercom uses WebRTC peer-to-peer between your tablets. We don't relay it.
  • Motion-based auto-dim, when enabled, reads the tablet's front camera locally, computes brightness differences in memory, and never stores or transmits frames.
  • Alarm Panel forwards your PIN to Home Assistant, which validates it against your alarm panel's own configuration. We never see or store it.

4. What this website collects

This is a static marketing site. We don't use analytics, we don't load tracking scripts, and we don't set cookies. Standard web-server access logs maintained by our hosting provider may include your IP address and timestamp for security and abuse-prevention purposes; these logs are not used to identify or profile visitors.

5. App Store and Google Play

When you buy Aureo, Apple or Google handles the transaction. They send us aggregate sales reports — for example, "X units sold in Canada this week" — but never your name, email, payment method, or device identifier. If you email us about a purchase, we may receive the order ID you choose to share with us, and we use it only to look up the issue.

6. What we don't collect

We have no servers that touch your data, so we cannot collect:

  • Your Home Assistant URL, token, or entity data
  • Camera streams, frames, or snapshots
  • Voice recordings or transcripts
  • Your location
  • Your contacts, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints
  • Crash reports beyond what Apple and Google collect natively for the App Store and Play Store

7. Third parties and cross-border transfers

Quebec Law 25 requires us to disclose the third parties that may receive personal information through your use of our product, and the countries to which that information may flow.

  • Apple Inc. (United States) — for App Store and Mac App Store purchases, and any crash reports Apple collects via iOS and macOS. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • Google LLC (United States) — for Google Play purchases, and any crash reports Google collects via Android. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • Home Assistant — your own self-hosted instance on your own network. Not a third party from our perspective. We never connect to it.

We have no business relationships with analytics, advertising, marketing, or data-broker companies.

8. Automated decision-making

Aureo makes no automated decisions about you. We do not profile users.

9. Your rights under Quebec Law 25

If you have used Aureo or contacted us, you have the right to:

  • Know what information we hold about you (we expect the answer to be "nothing")
  • Request a copy in a structured, commonly used format
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • File a complaint with Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI)

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@ks-studios.ca. We respond within 30 days, the maximum allowed under Law 25.

10. Children's privacy

Aureo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information about them. In practice, we collect nothing about anyone.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top and announce material changes in the changelog. The current version is always at the URL where you found this page.
